Lahore : Provincial Minister for Transport Department Punjab Ibrahim Murad has said that a comprehensive action plan regarding smog control is going to be set up across the province. While issuing instructions to the Punjab Transport Department, the provincial minister said that nothing is more important than the health and life of the common people, prepare for a strict crackdown. Ensure that all buses, vehicles, and other vehicles operating in public transport have fitness certificates. Ibrahim Murad said that smoke-emitting vehicles, rickshaws, buses and others play a significant role in environmental pollution. Ibrahim Murad further said that revolutionary changes are going to take place in the Punjab Transport Department with the effective and comprehensive use of technology. With the help of online application ‘Go Punjab’, any citizen will now be able to check the fitness of a vehicle running in public transport. Citizens will be able to file complaints on the spot if the fitness of the ride used in public transport is not completed before traveling. Ibrahim Murad said that strict implementation of the crackdown against polluting vehicles should be ensured. Punjab Transport Department needs to take comprehensive actions on smog control. In the meeting, a detailed briefing was given to Provincial Minister Ibrahim Murad regarding the administrative affairs of Pakistan Metro Bus Service Rawalpindi Islamabad. A detailed review of the contract of private companies, escalators, buses and roads and other matters regarding Pakistan Metro Bus were also conducted. Secretary Transport Department Punjab Dr. Ahmad Javed Qazi, Secretary Mass Transit Authority Farooq Sadiq, CEO Punjab Transport Company Faiq Ahmed, Secretary Punjab Transport Authority Faisal Mangat, Secretary Regional Transport Authority and others were present in the meeting.
