ISLAMABAD, (Parliament Times) : Interim Federal Minister for National Heritage and Culture Jamal Shah visited the residences of living legends Ustad Bashir Ahmed Eminent Miniature Painter and Firdous Jamal veteran actor and inquired about their health.
Jamal Shah who is also renowned actor, film producer and sculptor said “I am happy and proud of two Icons who contributed a lot to the country miniature painting, film and drama industry”.
Jamal Shah said that the whole nation is proud of the contributions made by Ustad Bashir Ahmed and Firdous Jamal.
Firdous Jamal is cancer survivor and undergoing treatment and Ustad Bashir Ahmed also facing health complications.
Ustad Professor Bashir Ahmed is the most prolific and significant among the miniature artists and has single handedly revised and promoted the art of miniature painting. It was because of him that miniature paintings became a major subject for specialization in National College of Arts (NCA).
He works in original Persian and Mughal miniature techniques. He has made bolder attempts to break through the conventional format in order to express the ‘miniature’ in terms of tone and new materials rather than surface decoration.
He is recognized worldwide for his exceptional command over traditional techniques of miniature painting.
Firdous Jamal a Pride of Performance recipient is known for his notable achievements in showbiz industry. He is one of the leading Pakistani television, theatre, stage and film actor whose innate, natural and spontaneous acting was imprinted in the minds of million viewers of all ages. His professional career encompasses upon four decades starting from 70’s to the contemporary era. His versatile, genuine and profound acting is unanimously acknowledged as the gems of living performances for all generations to come. The seasoned and showbiz critics rate his involving and indulgence in peculiar character delivery with strongest and the most influential stages.
