Dera Ismail Khan: Relief items were distributed among the flood victims in Kohawar of tehsil Draban In line with the project objectives, 1752 Hygiene kits and 1752 Dignity kits for females were distributed among the flood affected families of Kohawar village.
Looking into the hot weather in area and less facilities in the village, TKF provided the distributed points with cold and clean drinking water, proper cooling system by installing the pedestal fans and canopy inside the distribution points.
A separate distribution point was established for female beneficiaries keeping in view the cultural aspects, to facilitate the community and to make the distribution more manageable, the duration of the distribution was set for four days, inviting the flood affected beneficiaries from each sub-village (Mohalla) on a separate day.
Prior to the Hygiene Kits distribution, Tameer e Khalaq Foundation staff went for door to door assessment to identify eligible households, and looking the number of Hygiene and dignity kits, TKF and International Organization for Migration (IOM) agreed to distribute the Hygiene and dignity kits among all the families of the village Kohawar.
So, all the families of the Kohawar village were enlisted, and the beneficiaries list was approved from the IOM (donor) and later on endorsed from the district administration.
People with disabilities and widows were given priority in getting the support, and additional kits were distributed among them. During the four days distribution, TKF made special counters for people with disabilities and senior citizens, and GRM dest was established to and the beneficiaries were told to record their feedback via feedback form if they wanted. In addition to that, on-site orientation regarding personal, domestic, and environmental hygiene and hand washing tips and steps were explained by the TKF experienced staff during the distribution.
The activity and whole project were appreciated by the community elders, youth, and district administration, and they are recommending for longer term engagement to build a flood resilient society in Kohawar. They are also requesting assistance in the construction of the protection wall around the village to save the village from future floods.
