Islamabad, (Parliament Times) : Terming the 19th July resolution as a historic document, the President Azad Jammu and Kashmir Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry has said that it was on this day in 1947 when the Kashmiri leadership decided to link their fate with Pakistan months before its creation. In his message issued on the occasion of accession to Pakistan Day, today, the president said that July 19, 1947 was an important chapter in the history of Kashmir. “On this day, the resolution of accession to Pakistan was adopted during an extraordinary meeting held in Srinagar”, he said.”It is indeed a matter of great honour and privilege for me that my father Ch. Noor Hussain was one of the youngest political representatives who attended this historical meeting, which was held at Sardar Muhammad Ibrahim Khan’s residence at Abiguzar in Srinagar”, the president said, adding that on this day we reaffirm our pledge to continue the struggle till the Kashmir dispute was resolved in line with the UNSC resolutions. Referring to Kashmir’s geographical, ideological, religious and cultural ties with Pakistan, the president said that India has no relationship with Kashmir.”For decades, India deprived Kashmiris of their universally recognized right, the right to self-determination, by the dint of force”, he said, adding that the Kashmiri people would never allow India to succeed in its nefarious designs “.Referring to the partition plan, he said that it was quite unfortunate that the Kashmiri people were not allowed to exercise their right to determine their political future. He said that after invading Kashmir, India was first to lodge a complaint in the United Nations against Pakistan. The UN, he said, presented a roadmap to resolve the Kashmir issue peacefully but again it was the Indian leadership that backtracked from its own commitments and promises of holding a referendum in Kashmir. He said that the Kashmiri people were still struggling to achieve the goal, which was set by the political leadership on 19 July 1947.The AJK president appealed to the people of Pakistan to forge complete unity and consensus to thwart the conspiracies being hatched against Pakistan. He also appealed to Kashmiris to realize the importance of the 19th July and play their due role to strengthen Pakistan at all levels.
