Lahore: The third meeting of the full board was held in the committee room of the Board of Revenue under the chair of Senior Member Board of Revenue Punjab Nabeel Javed. The meeting was attended by all members of the Board of Revenue, secretaries, divisional commissioners from across the province, the DG Punjab Land Record Authority and others attended the meeting.
Secretary Revenue and others presented the agenda during the meeting. SMBR Nabeel Javed stated that the verification of transfer deeds of properties across Punjab will be the responsibility of the committee formed by the Board of Revenue. The Board of Revenue will strictly implement the auction policy while alloting the state lands to govt depts. He added that immediate action should be taken to retrieve government lands from private housing societies and prompt action should be taken against officers and officials involved in not passing the pending mutations under the PEEDA Act. He also called for measures to fully activate the Chowkidari system and initiate work to secure state lands data.
SMBR mentioned that steps should be taken to retrieve state lands, develop them as cultivable, and utilize them for public purposes. He urged the judicial members to ensure thorough inspections in their respective divisions, implement revenue measures effectively, and utilize their authority to improve the land management system. He stated that revenue reforms are urgently required to secure citizens’ properties through digital means, and the e-registration and plus project will play a crucial role in curbing corruption. He asked the Director-General Punjab Land Record Authority to ensure effective monitoring of arazi record centers and rural revenue centers, and the quality of revenue services should be further improved. He stressed the need for everyone to come together to tackle emerging challenges.
Member (Taxes) Tariq Qureshi’s performance in completing the target for timely revenue recovery was appreciated, and he was commended for his best efforts. SMBR directed divisional commissioners and deputy commissioners to give special attention to revenue recovery for the coming year and ensure the timely completion of their targets. He further instructed all officers to prioritize the resolution of public-related revenue issues and deliver to avoid unnecessary visits of the applicants to their offices. The deputy commissioners were further advised to make surprise visits to land record centers, rural revenue centers, and other branches to identify and address citizens’ problems promptly.
