TAXILA: Heavy industries Taxila (HIT) Chief Major General Shakir Ullah Khattak has stressed the need for academia-industry linkages and result-oriented research activities for the development of the country. He was addressing as Chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of 9th Open House and Job Fair at heavy industries Taxila (HITEC) university on Friday.
General Khattak said that youth are a ray of hope and a guarantee of a bright future. He said that interest and performance of youth in Engineering and Technology is a positive omen. He emphasized giving preference to applied research which could have a positive impact on society.
He added that academia was main advisory body in all developed countries and the research being done at universities was not only being used by the industry but by the government institutions and development sector as well
Earlier, HIT Chief who is also Chairman Board of Governors HITEC University inaugurated 9th Open House and Job Fair. On his occasion, he appreciated the management of the university in organizing the excellent event and expressed his pleasure over the quality of the developed projects by the final year students of HITEC University.
A total of 139 final year design projects (FYDPs) displayed in the event. The Mechanical Engineering Department showcased 44 projects in the autonomous fields of robotics, automotive, defense system, human aid system and solar technology. The Electrical Engineering department has a total of 37 projects designed on efficient integration of renewable generation in the power system. In electronics, projects were based primarily on IOT, AI and Fuzzy. Computer Engineering and Computer Sciences displayed 58 projects with prime focus on robotics, machine, artificial intelligence, surveillance system and human aid systems. The Civil Engineering department displayed 10 projects focused on concrete for Nuclear power plants, soil stabilization and efficient transportation materials. The students apprised the visitors about their projects to the invigilators, representatives of industry and guests.
The projects were also viewed and analyzed by industrialists and engineering experts, who chose students for career-building. Professionals and representatives from more than 50 different industries participated in the event. While more than 15 companies took on-spot interviews and offered jobs or called for a second interview.
