Islamabad, (Parliament Times) : President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry has said that overseas Kashmiris should play their due role to sensitize the world community about early resolution of the Kashmir dispute.
He made these assertions while talking to members of delegations of Kashmiri expatriates hailing from Norway, America and Britain at Kashmir House Islamabad on Wednesday.
While referring to the fast deteriorating political and human rights situation in the Indian-occupied territory of Jammu and Kashmir, the president said that it was high time that the international community should take effective cognisance of the human rights violations being committed by the Indian occupation forces in Kashmir.
” Since August 5, 2019, there has been immense increase in bloodshed and violence in the IoK”, the president said, adding that on the one hand innocent civilians were being killed in fake encounters and socalled search operations, while on the other the Indian occupation authorities at the helm of affairs have accelerated their efforts to change the region’s demography as well as its political landscape.
The president said that there was a dire need that the international community should play its role to mitigate the sufferings of Kashmiri people and play its due role to help resolve the lingering dispute that has been the main cause and consequence of bloodshed and human rights violations in the region.
He said that Kashmiris living in America, Britain and Europe should raise their voices in favour of Kashmiris and persuade their respective countries to stop atrocities unleashed upon innocent Kashmiris by the Indian forces in Occupied Kashmir.
Members of the delegation included Executive Director of Kashmiri Scandinavian Council Sardar Ali Shahnawaz from Norway, prominent Kashmiri leader Sardar Zulfiqar Khan from America, while Chaudhry Khadim Hussain, President of Kashmir Peace Forum International Midland from the UK and others were present on the occasion.
