IKMC 2023: Hamzah Altaf clinches 3rd position among his peers from across Pakistan

MUZAFFARABAD (Parliament Times): Hamza Altaf, son of Azad Kashmir’s leading political and social analyst and senior TV anchorperson Naila Altaf Kayani, won the silver medal in the 33rd International Kangaroo Mathematics Contest 2023.

Ten-and-a-half-year-old Hamza Altaf is studying in a private school here in Upper Chhattar neighbourhood and won the first position in Muzaffarabad district and across Azad Kashmir and the third position in Pakistan from amongst 7897 students of his age,.
The 3 hours long contest was held worldwide on March 16 and results were announced on May 20. Hamzah Altaf was presented with his medal, appreciation certificate of appreciation and gift at a function held in his school on Thursday.
Expressing her views on the occasion, school principal Imrana Naeem said that Hamza Altaf had not only made his educational institution, but also his city and state proud apart from setting an example for the rest of the children.
He also congratulated Hamza Altaf’s mother for her training and supervision that enabled him to achieve the feat.
After receiving his certificate, medal and gift, Hamza Altaf told the ceremony that mathematics was his favorite subject and he enjoys solving its difficult mathematical problems for hours. He also thanked his teachers for their encouragement.
It may be noted here that the International Kangaroo Math Cotest was launched in France in 1991 and quickly became popular among the students all over the world.
The main objective of the competition is to promote mathematical thinking and create interest in mathematics by giving students an opportunity to broaden their minds and compare their skills with those of other students around the world.
More than 600,000 students from 1st to 12th grade from more than 80 countries participated in the 2023 competition..
