LAHORE : The caretaker Provincial Minister for Industries, Commerce and Energy SM Tanveer along with the caretaker Provincial Minister for Communications and Excise Bilal Afzal visited Bhikki Power Plant Sheikhupura. Chief Executive Officer, General Manager Operations and Director Admin Quaid-e-Azam Thermal Power Company welcomed the provincial ministers on the arrival of Bhikki Power Plant. Chairman Sheikhupura Chamber of Commerce and Industries Manzoorul Haq Malik, Additional Deputy Commissioner Finance Mian Nazir Ahmed, District Information Officer Faisal Javed and District Officer Industries Tanveer Ahmed were also with the provincial ministers.
The caretaker ministers visited the various departments of the Bhikki Power Plant and reviewed the various stages of energy generation and also inspected the gas turbines. General Manager Operations Quaid-e-Azam Thermal Power Company informed the caretaker ministers about the power generation process and the production capacity of the plant and gave a detailed briefing. The caretaker ministers expressed satisfaction over the production capacity of the Bhikki Power Plant.
Speaking on the occasion, Provincial Minister for Industries and Commerce SM Tanveer said that uninterrupted supply of electricity is more important than reduction in electricity prices for the real development of the industry and increase in exports. He said that Sheikhupura is an industrial city. Sheikhupura and its suburbs have many factories working for the development and stability of the economy of the country. In terms of Sheikhupura being an industrial city, this power plant is located at a very important location and plays an important role in uninterrupted power supply to the industry. The provincial minister said that for the real development of the country and the stability of the economy, there is a need to further improve the production capacity of electricity because the economy of the country can be stabilized only in the case of uninterrupted supply of electricity to the industry. Ministers also planted saplings in Bhikki Power Plant regarding plantation.
