ISLAMABAD: Speaker National Assembly (NA) has refused to provide record of the house and standing committee on law to Supreme Court (SC) immediately.
Clear reply has been given to Attorney General (AG) office that the
decision for providing record will be taken by the special committee
constituted by the house.
The NA secretariat has refused to immediately provide the record to
SC in respect of proceeding of NA and standing committee on law
and justice occurred during the approval of Supreme Court practice
and procedure act.
Assembly secretariat has informed AG office that Speaker NA
Raja Pervez Ashraf has assigned the matter of provision of record to
special committee on the demand of lower house.
The special committee constituted under Aslam Bhootani will
meet in parliament house today (Tuesday). The committee will
recommend the speaker in the meeting whether the record of house
and standing committee should be provided to SC or otherwise.
The committee comprises Shahida Akhtar Ali, Muhammad Abu
Bakar, Chaudhry Muhammad Barjees Tahir, Sheikh Rohail Asghar,
Syed Hussain Tariq,Naz Baloch, Khalid Hussain Magsi, Wajih
Qamar and Dr Muhammad Afzal Khan Dhandla.
This committee has also been directed to probe into audio tape
matter regarding son of former Chief Justice of Pakistan
(CJP) Saqib Nisar.
Speaker NA Raja Pervez Ashraf will evolve his final opinion on the
recommendation of the committee.
