LAHORE : Commissioner Punjab Overseas Pakistanis Commission Syed Khadim Abbas has said that overseas Pakistanis are playing a key role in the economic development of the country and their remittances are supporting millions of families. It is the responsibility of the administration and the police to protect the interests of hardworking and tireless Pakistanis living abroad and provide priority solutions to their problems. He expressed these views while addressing the review meeting on pending applications of overseas Pakistanis related to the Commissioner’s Office Gujranwala Division. OPC Imtiaz Ahmed Khan, along with Deputy Commissioners of Districts, District Police Officers and officers of concerned departments participated. Commissioner OPC Syed Khadim Abbas urged the officers to process the long pending applications of Overseas Pakistanis. Overseas Pakistanis complaints are resolving on priority basis so that their financial interests can be protected. He expressed concern over the illegal occupation of the properties of hardworking Pakistanis and said that the government cannot tolerate the occupation of others’ property built by their hard earned money. On this occasion, it was informed in the meeting that 4222 applications of overseas Pakistanis were received in Gujranwala division, out of which 3325 have been resolved. At present, only 293 applications are pending across the division, out of which 12 are related to Gujranwala district, 41 to Gujarat district, 109 to Mandi Bahauddin district, 2 to Narowal district, 125 to Sialkot district and 3 to Hafizabad district. Commissioner OPC Syed Khadim Abbas expressed displeasure over the pending applications for more than a year and issued instructions to resolve them at the earliest.
