The bomb blast in Peshawar was a reprisal by Tehrek-e-Taliban Pakistan’s faction Jamat-ul-Ahrar. Previously, Pakistan Army eliminated one of the founding members of the outfit and the commander of that faction Umar Khalid Khurasani. Following the blast, in which more than 100 people were martyred in Peshawar, the faction claimed responsibility for the lethal attack. Also, faction disseminated the name Huzaifa who staged the attack. Unequivocally, TTP split into many factions and Jamat-ul-Ahrar was one of them. Following the assassination of Hakimullah Mehsud in the drone attacks conducted by America, Mullah Fazlullah undertook the responsibility of TTP; he opened talks with the Pakistani government. Consequently, Umar became disgruntled with the leadership and formed their group under the leadership of Umar Khalid Kuhrasani, who hailed from Mohmand Agency. In addition, He was also a journalist and worked in different newspapers before his affiliation with TTP. However, when Noor Wali Mehsud undertook the leadership and reinvigorated the TTP, he rejoined the outfit with his associates. Moreover, along with the Peshawar blast group also carried out major attacks in Pakistan for instance Wagah border, a Church attack, and an F-8 lawyer’s attack. Government should have pursued a clear-cut policy against the TTP and factions within the outfit to eradicate terrorism in Pakistan. Furthermore, all the political parties have to manifest an explicit stance against terrorism.
