Muzaffarabad, Kotli, (Parliament Times) : Bank of Azad Jammu and Kashmir has continued to expand its branch network while achieving excellent business results including historical increase in profits. Total number of operational branches has increased to 82 after opening a new branch at Bypass Road Gulhar Sharif Kotli. By opening the new branch, the large population of Gulhar Sharif, Gulhar Colony, AJK University Campus, Jamalpur, Kurti, North Gulhar Sharif and adjoining villages including Kotli city will benefit from banking facilities. Those in Canada, the UK, the Gulf and other countries will also be able to send remittances to their loved ones with ease. It should be remembered that the bank is making historic profits by performing excellently. Before this, the profit of the bank was 134 million rupees in 2019, which increased to 289 million rupees in 2020 and 440 million rupees in 2021. In the ten months of current year, the bank’s profit has reached 771 million rupees, which is an increase of 94% compared to the same period last year. There has been a historic increase in deposits, assets and remittances among other sectors. The under-banked areas of the state have joined the bank’s network. Due to the trust in the bank, the people of these areas, including prominent businessmen, opened their accounts in large numbers in the new branch and prayed for the success of the bank. The bank will open new branches in many more areas so that the customers of these areas can also be provided with banking facilities at their doorstep. Mr. Khawar Saeed, President/CEO says that by opening new branches, the bank’s branch network will not only be expanded but in addition provides banking facilities to the customers in the remote areas of AJK and employment opportunities are also available to the educated youth. On opening the 82nd branch, the business community of these areas, employees and customers from all walks of life are interested in promoting business with the Bank. It is worth mentioning here that under the patronage of Azad Government, particularly Minister of Finance, Cooperatives and Inland Revenue and Chairman of the Bank Board of Directors Khan Abdul Majid Khan, under the supervision and guidance of Mr. Khawar Saeed, President/CEO, the day and night hard work and team work of the staff, with the support of the customers the bank has achieved the targets.
