FAISALABAD: On the directions of the Punjab government, under the “Ehsas Rashan Reyat Program” Out of 5, each shop would be registered in four district of the division at union council level for providing flour, ghee/oil and pulses to eligible registered families under 40% subsidy.
In this regard, at the tehsil level, the steering committee consisting of Assistant Commissioner of concerned tehsil, Social Welfare officer, and representatives of Banks has been constituted which will deal with the issues of registration of shops on priority basis.
A high-level meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Divisional Commissioner Muhammad Shahid Niaz, in which the Deputy Commissioner Faisalabad Imran Hamid Sheikh, Assistant Commissioner General Samina Saif Niazi, the Deputy Director Social Welfare Amna Alam, Social Welfare Officer Muhammad Tayyab and representatives of Bank of Punjab and National Bank also participated.
During the meeting, the Deputy Director Social Welfare said that people having the income less than 35 thousand rupees can get registeration by sending their National Identity Card number to “8171” who can buy flour, ghee/oil and pulses from the respective shops under 40% subsidy.
She said that, grocery vendors should be registered by scanning the QR code. The vendors who were already included in the program do not need to re-register. The Divisional Commissioner urged to use all means of awareness regarding the registration of deserving families under this program. It is a priority to ensure the provision of subsidy to the beneficiaries with ensuring tight transparency. He told the steering committee that the necessary arrangements should be taken for opening the bank accounts of grocery stores while all the necessary matters for registration of households should be completed immediately. During the meeting the Deputy Commissioners gave detailed about working of program.
