FAISALABAD : The Divisional Commissioner Muhammad Shahid Niaz has said that, corruption is a social evil that weakens the roots of the society.
The purpose of this day is to raise awareness among people against corruption. He said that distinguishing between right and wrong is a test of our character. Corruption has negative effects on economic and social development, so promoting transparency is the need of the hour. He said this while addressing an awareness seminar organized by the Directorate of Anti-Corruption Establishment on the occasion of the International Anti-Corruption Day.
The Deputy Commissioner, Imran Hamid Sheikh, Special Judge Anti-Corruption Court Muhammad Aslam Bhatti, Director Anti-Corruption Muhammad Ayub Khan, Member District Peace Committee Maulana Muhammad Riaz Kharal, Chief Officer Metropolitan Corporation Zubair Hussain, Assistant Director Muhammad Sarfaraz, Ali Sher Goraya, Muhammad Zubair, teachers and students participated in the seminar in large numbers.
The Divisional Commissioner said that corruption is the root of all evils, for its complete prevention, Ulma karam should continue to teach society from pulpit likewise teachers from schools and journalists through newspapers and channels should spread the message to the society to stay away from this disease. He said that today we need to adopt the guiding principles by which Muslims were the supreme power of the world in the past.
The Divisional Commissioner said that the work should be made easy so that there is no chance of corruption. He said that just as the desire to become Honorary Deputy Commissioner for a day has been created among the students, similar measures are needed against evil. He appreciated the efforts of the organizers for the successful conduct of the seminar and said that all classes should come forward to promote good and prevent evil so that progress can be achieved.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the developed countries have zero-tolerance against corruption. He said that societies in which transparency accelerates are far ahead in the race for development. He appreciated the anti-corruption measures against the corruption mafia and said that the district administration will continue to support them. The Deputy Commissioner said that adulteration of water in milk, low weight, exploitation of farmers are also forms of corruption, we need to take corrective measures. There should be no non-transparent behavior so that such programs can achieve far-reaching results.
Special Judge Anti Corruption Court urged the young generation to develop honesty. He said eliminating corruption is not only the responsibility of government institutions, but of every member of the society have to take their part. Maulana Muhammad Riaz Kharal said that the saying of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is that the one who gives and takes bribes both are hellish. We should take steps on a war footing to prevent corruption. Director Anti-Corruption said that the new generation can play an important role in eradicating corruption from the society. There is an urgent need to increase awareness so that the poison of corruption can be prevented from spreading. He said that to eradicate corruption, we have to change our attitudes so that our minds are not inclined to give and take bribes for legitimate and illegitimate work.
He highlighted the aims and objectives of the anti-corruption seminar and said that the anti-corruption establishment is active for the elimination of corruption under the laws. He informed about the procedure of cases. He said that the evil of corruption is a major obstacle in the way of national development which every individual should volunteer to eradicate. He said that the during the last five month, major cases related to property were solved and relief was provided to other applicants including overseas. At the end of the seminar, shields were also distributed among the participants.
