MIRPUR [AJK], (Parliament Times) : At least three non-residents were arrested on the charges of violating the code conduct and the law during local bodies elections in Bhimbher district of Mirpur [AJK] on Thursday, official sources said.
This was told by Commissioner Mirpur Division Ch. Shoukat Mahmood while briefing to Senior member AJK Election Commission Raja Farooq Niaz during visit to the Central Control Room set up at the Divisional Commissioner office here on Thursday to monitor the overall arrangement for holding of the local bodies elections and the law and order situation during the polls in all three districts of Mirpur division including Mirpur, Kotli and Bhmbher.
The Div. Commissioner apprised the Sr. Member AJK Election Commission Farooq Niaz that since there was complete ban on the entry of the unconcerned persons in the premises of the polling stations, the law enforcement institutions caught three non-residents [non-locals] for defying the law
Police have booked the arrested violators of the law.
Additional Inspector General Police AJK Tahir Qureshi, DIG Police Mirpur Division Dr. Khalid Mahmood Chauhan, DC Mirpur Ch. Amjad Iqbal and other officials of Mirpur Division and District administration were also present on this occasion.
The Sr. Member AJK Election Commission earlier while talking to media here Thursday expressed full satisfaction over the entire polling process in third and last phased of the civic polls in Mirpur division.
