ISLAMABAD: Notification with regard to appointment of new Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) and retirement of sitting COAS and CJCSC has been issued.
Promotion order of Gen Asim Munir and General Sahir Shamshad Mirza will come into force with immediate effect..
According to the notification issued by the Ministry of Defence (MoD), both the officers will continue to serve for three years.
The retirement of outging army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa from November 29 and outgoing CJCSC Gen Nadeem Raza from November 27 has also been notified.
The elevation of COAS-designate Asim Munir to the rank of four-star general and his appointment as the next army chief will be applicable from November 29, 2022.
