Lahore: Governor Punjab Balighur Rahman attended a three-day conference on Urdu journalism at a private university today as a special guest. Dean Media School and Communication Dr. Anjum Zia, Rector UMT Asif Raza, Chairman Punjab Higher Education Commission Dr. Shahid Munir, senior journalist Mujibur Rahman Shami, Salman Ghani and large number of people attended the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Punjab Governor Muhammad Balighur Rehman said that Urdu journalism played a very important role in the war of Independence and the Pakistan movement. He said that the sacrifices of people associated with Urdu journalism cannot be forgotten. Governor Punjab said that the work of universities is to conduct and promote research.In our religion, it has been emphasized that unauthentic news should not be spread, he added. Governor Punjab said that journalists should promote journalism based on high morals and facts. He further said that social media has powerful impact on the lives of people .He further said that in the age of social media, journalists have a greater responsibility to report responsibly. Governor Punjab said that character building and moral training of the entire society, especially students, is very important. He said that there is eternal success in truth.
Meanwhile, Punjab Governor Muhammad Balighur Rehman while talking to the delegation of Overseas Pakistanis of Muslim League (N) led by Malik Sharjeel at the Governor House Lahore said that Overseas Pakistanis are playing an important role in the country’s economy by sending remittances and foreign exchange. He said that overseas Pakistanis are valuable asset of the country and whenever the country faced difficult situation, overseas Pakistanis generously helped their country and people. Governor Punjab said that the role of overseas Pakistanis in the relief activities and rehabilitation of the recent flood victims is commendable. Governor Punjab said that national stability, economic development and provision of basic facilities to the people are the top priorities of Muslim League (N). He said that the journey of public service will continue. Governor Punjab also listened to the problems of the delegates and assured to play his role in solving them. The delegation comprised General Secretary Muslim League (N) Holland Faisal Manzoor, Executive Member (ACOBA) Syed Waqar Shah, Syed Muhammad Waqas Canada, Raja Tony President Leicester UK, Chaudhry Naeem and others.
