    EC AJK has not written any letter to SC regarding LG Polls: Spokesperson EC AJK

    Muzaffarabad,  (Parliament Times)  : The spokesperson of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Election Commission has clarified that the Election Commission has not written any letter to the Supreme Court regarding the local body elections and cannot write any letter. Azad Jammu and Kashmir Supreme Court in its order dated October 4, 2022 had bound the Secretary Local Government and Rural Development and the Secretary Election Commission to submit their progress reports in a phased manner with reference to the progress of local elections.
    In this context, the Election Commission has submitted its progress report to the Supreme Court. In this regard, the news of Media Pro-Election Commission submitting a letter to the Supreme Court is circulating, which are contrary to facts and baseless. The Election Commission reserves the right to take action against the concerned newspaper or institution for publishing fabricated and baseless news
