FAISALABAD: The Deputy Commissioner Imran Hamid Sheikh has said that students should also be given ample opportunities to participate in sports along with providing quality education so that they might move forward with energetic minds because these are the bright stars who will be the future of the country. He said this while speaking as a special guest at the Girls Sports Festival organized by the Association of Private Schools Pakistan at the Iqbal Stadium.
CEO District Education Authority Iftikhar Khan, Chairman Association of Private Schools Pakistan Khalid Hayat Kamooka, Secretary General Chaudhry Muhammad Saleem, Director Sports Mian Nasir Basheer, Chairperson Ladies Wing Suriya Zafar, Sajida Atta, Musbah Chaudhry, teachers and students were also present. The Deputy Commissioner acknowledged the abilities of the female students in curricular and extra-curricular activities and said that whether it is education or sports, our girls have made the name of the educational institutions and the district bright in every competition.
He said that for the personality development of the students, district govt. started the program of making a one-day honorary deputy commissioner and it is very gratifying that in the 118-year long history of the district, there has been no woman deputy commissioner till date but Marwa Basra, a talented girl who obtained matriculation from a government school and secured high position in co-curricular activities, got the honor of becoming one day deputy commissioner.
The Deputy Commissioner saw the march pasts, tableaus and other variety programs of the students and took deep interest in them. He asked the students to prepare now to become honorary Deputy Commissioner for one day in next year and show their skills. He congratulated Association of Private Schools Pakistan Chairman Khalid Hayat Kamooka and his entire team for organizing a successful sports festival.
