RAWALPINDI , (Press Release.) : A meeting of the Supreme Council of the Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) was held yesterday in the Central Information Office of the party presided over by the Acting Chairman Raja Haq Nawaz Khan, in which the Head of Diplomatic Department Professor Raja Zafar Khan (UK), Vice Chairman Saleem Haroon, Vice Chairman Zahid Hussain Khan (Belgium, Europe), Chief Organizer Sabir Gul (UK), Secretary Finance Khawaja Manzoor Ahmed Chishti, Deputy Secretary General Sardar Javed Hanif, Deputy Chief Organizer Sardar Mohammad Anwar Khan, Deputy Secretary Finance Hafiz Mumtaz Ahmed, President Azad Kashmir/Gilgit-Baltistan Zone and Member Supreme Council Sajid Siddiqui, Member Supreme Council Azam Zia, Member Supreme Council SM Ibrahim Advocate (UK), Member Supreme Council Saleem Aftab Khan (Riyadh, Saudi Arabia), Member Supreme Council Sardar Jamshed Khan, Central Spokesman Muhammad Rafiq Dar and newly elected Chairman Jammu Kashmir Students Liberation Front (JKSLF) Obaid Shabbir participated in the meeting while as President UK Zone Liaqat Ali Loan (UK), President Europe Zone Malik Mushtaq Pasha (France) and General Secretary UK Zone Tanveer Ahmad Malik (UK) participated in the meeting as observers. The leadership from Srinagar also presented their views in the meeting.
According to the statement issued from Central Information Office, in view of the current situation of the ongoing freedom movement for right to self-determination and the continuing violations of human rights in the state along with the aim to draw the attention of international community towards the release of Yasin Malik and others from Indian jails, JKLF will host an International Kashmir Conference in London under the auspices of the JKLF UK Zone. The Spokesman said that the diplomatic bureau of the party under the leadership of Prof. Raja Zafar Khan, the central chief organizer of JKLF Mr. Sabir Gul and the president of the UK zone Mr. Liaqat Ali Lone along with his team has started working for its arrangements. Given the circumstances the conference will be a very important and unique one of its kind from which many goals will be achieved in favor of the freedom movement, he added.
According to the party spokesman, the participants reiterated that the Supreme Council is the highest policy-making and decision-making body of the party, and in the best interest of the party after thorough discussions extended the decision of the zonal leadership regarding the proposed local body elections in Azad Kashmir. The meeting also clarified its stand that the Freedom Movement is the first and foremost priority of JKLF and come what may never deviate from it. While being unambiguous in its stand that JKLF as a party has not yet decided to participate in the elections, the spokesman further said that the members are in agreement that the debate on the issue of elections in AJK/GB should continue within the party before reaching any conclusion.
According to the spokesman, in addition to decisions such as speeding up the process of re-organization within the State and abroad, re-establishing links with inactive organizational leaders and workers and conducting training workshops at the grassroots level, the meeting also decided to commemorate November 6 (Martyrs Day of Jammu) and December 10 (International Human Rights Day) by organizing protests, rallies, seminars and conferences so as to highlight the Indian state terrorism and the plight of freedom loving imprisoned political leaders including Mr. Yasin Malik.
According to the spokesperson, the meeting decided to cancel the basic membership of Zahoor Ahmed Butt of Kupwara after the JKLF acting chairman Raja Haqnawaz Khan provided the details about his repeated actions of indiscipline and the efforts he (Raja Haqnawaz Khan) himself as the constitutional head of the party undertook to let he (Zahoor Ahmed Butt) respond to disciplinary actions. The Acting Chairman said that Zahoor Ahmed Butt failed to clear his position after he was given ample chances. It is worth to mention that Muhammad Yasin Butt of Srinagar has himself left JKLF a few months before and joined some other political party. Therefore, JKLF clarifies that they both do not belong to JKLF.
