Nominates Prof. Taqdees Gilani as focal person to complete Kohala project,
Muzaffarabad, (Parliament Times) : Prime Minister Azad Jammu and Kashmir Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan has constituted a committee headed by Additional Chief Secretary Development Fayyaz Ali Abbasi to resolve the issues faced by contractors in Azad Kashmir.
The decision to this effect was taken after a delegation of Contractor Association Azad Kashmir met the Prime Minister and informed him about the problems faced by the people engaged in the construction sector of Azad Kashmir here on Sunday. The meeting was also attended by Government Ministers Abdul Majid Khan, Dewan Ali Chaghtai, Chaudhry Azhar Sadiq, Principal Secretary, Additional Chief Secretary, Secretary Services, Chief Engineer and other government officials.
On the occasion, the PM constituted a committee to solve the problems being faced by the contractors in Azad Kashmir. The committee comprised of Additional Chief Secretary Development, Secretary Services, Chief Engineer and representatives of the Contract Association has been tasked to present its recommendations in 10 days.
While talking to delegates the PM said that his government was trying to solve all the problems relating to construction and development in Azad Kashmir. Terming Contractors Association as an important stakeholder in the development process of Azad Kashmir, the PM said that the government was fully aware of the problems being faced by the contractors’ fraternity.
He said that construction and development in the state, good governance, promotion of tourism and highlighting the Kashmir freedom movement were among the important priorities of the government.
President Raja Qaiser Majeed, Raja Mohsin Majeed, Sabteen Gilani, Mir Adil, Asif Mustafai, Aamir Rafiq and others were part of the Contractor Association delegation.
Meanwhile, the AJK PM appointed Parliamentary Secretary Taqdees Gilani as the focal person to complete the much-delayed Kohala Hydel Project initiated under CPEC on an urgent basis.
For the completion of the $250 billion project, the focal person Prof. Taqdees Gilani will be given a team of highly capable bureaucrats who will work painstakingly to get the project completed as soon as possible.
Pertinently, Prime Minister Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan would personally supervise this project. The PM has also issued instructions for removal of all the obstacles in the way of the project and has decided to continuously review the performance of the project.
Professor Taqdees Gilani is also one of the members of the Prime Minister’s Task Force on Energy and Water Resources, Social Welfare and Women’s Development.
