Lahore: From May to August about 200 homeless and unknown drug addicts’ dead bodies were found in different areas of Lahore City. Political and economic instability are also major factors to rise the use of drugs in the rural and urban areas in the province of Punjab. Political and ownership are important but the political and economic atmosphere is not well managed in the country The death reason was due to overdose and shortage of drugs, shortage of food & water, living with the miserable condition on footpaths, gardens and parks.
Syed Zulfiqar Hussain Consultant Anti Drugs/Narcotics Campaign and Director Drug Advisory Training Hub (DATH) talking to media about the dissemination 4 month Report on Homeless & Unknown Drug Addicts Dead bodies, new trends of addiction among youth, the report prepared by Drug Advisory Training Hub (DATH) & YOCFAN. Syed Mohsin, Mr. Adeel Rashid, Abdulaha, Syed Amir and Muhammad Afzal also present on the occasion.
Mr. Hussain mentioned that new trends of drug use always change and our young generation follows and prefers new trends. Crystal Ice and weed are a major trend in upper-class and also wipes. He further said that one women drug addict dead bodies also found, substance use disorders (SUDs) are using different type of drugs on footpaths, gardens and different major roads in the city of Lahore, Still 120 pockets where people are using drugs without any fear, he added. He said that the head of institutions can play a vital role to curb the menace of narcotics inside the institution but they are not ready to dealing drug use inside the institutions.
He said that the unemployment rate in Pakistan has been high for the past three or four years and our economic position is not solid. Mr. Hussain said that most of areas are very high risky Data Darbar, Muslim Town Canal, Ali Park, Bhatti Chowk, Lal Pul, Fathe ghar, Shadbagh, Lari Adda, Yateem Khana Chowk, Sabzazar, Lakshmi Chowk, Lahore Hotel and Khana for addiction in which dead bodies of unknown homeless drug addicts are being found due to overdose of drugs, poor hygienic condition and not eating proper food.
