Geneva: Senior APHC leader Altaf Hussain Wani has condemned in strong terms the booking of Kashmir political activists and religious scholars under notorious Public Safety Act by the Indian occupation authorities.
In a statement issued here today, the APHC leader while referring to the arrest of prominent Hurriyat leader Sarjan Barkati, and other religious scholars including Maulana Abdul Rasheed Dawoodi, Maulana Mushtaq Ahmad Veeri and Abdul Majeed Dar Almadni, said that booking Kashmiris under draconian laws has been an age-old tactics the Indian authorities have been practicing to enable complete silence in Kashmir.
Terming the use and abuse of the lawless law like PSA as a violation of international law, he said that it was quite unfortunate that the apartheid regime led by Modi had crossed all limits of barbarism and brutality to suppress voices of dissent in the region.
“Such actions clearly reflect the BJP’s fascism and communal policies towards Kashmir and the Kashmiris”, Wani said, adding that after booking the entire political leadership of Kashmir the Modi government has now launched a massive crackdown on religious leaders who have refused to toe the government line.
Voicing his serious concern over the plight of Kashmiri prisoners, the APHC leader urged the world human rights organizations to take effective notice of the matter and help release all the prisoners who have been arrested before and after 5th August 2019.
