    Altaf Ahmad Bhat.

Srinagar: Senior pro-freedom leader and Chairman of Jammu Kashmir Salvation Movement (JKSM) Altaf Ahmad Bhat while referring to the International Day Of Democracy, said that when Int’l Day of Democracy is being observed all over the world, Kashmiris continue to suffer under India’s brutal military occupation. India has proved itself a fake democracy by crushing Kashmiris’ right to self-determination through its military might.

Though democracy means to advance peace, fundamental rights, freedom of speech and assure unconditional freedom to subjugated nations, still people in enslaved countries are denied this right. Referring to the grim political situation in India illegally occupied Jammu Kashmir (IIOJ&K), Altaf Ahmad Bhat said that the violation and denial of Kashmiris’ fundamental human rights has exposed India’s façade of the so-called largest democracy.

Thousands of people yearning for freedom of speech are languishing in jails and detention centres. No fair trial is provided to pro-freedom leadership and activists in IIOJ&K.

Referring to the heart-wrenching situation in IIOJ&K, Altaf Ahmad Bhat said that more than two lac people were killed, thousands orphaned and hundreds of women raped and molested. Referring to details Altaf Ahmad Bhat said that youth are being killed in fake encounters and properties seized and busted. We have a complete record of those who were picked in broad daylight and later killed in custody.

Altaf Ahmad Bhat in his appeal to the international community asked to take cognizance of the worrying situation in occupied J& K.
It is time to recognize the reality of India – a fascist Hindu fundamentalist state, saying It is time for justice-loving people around the globe to support Kashmiris’ just cause.
It is a moral duty of the international community and world bodies to look into the serious matter and impress India to respect human values and grant freedom and follow UN resolutions related to the freedom movement in IIOJ&K , Bhat added.
