Once Abraham Lincoln once said, “democracy is the government of the people, by the people and for the people.” If we can give the perfect definition to the democracy that would be like; Democracy is popular control and political equality, further democracy is divided into 5 shapes and these are 1) Representative government 2) Fundamental rights 3) Participatory engagement 4) Impartial administration 5) Checks on government The democracy consistence upon certain principles and these are principles of equality, liberty and justice. In democracy the supreme power goes to people, who choose their representatives, and it is the representatives who cogitate and negotiate regarding policies and make decisions for the country is the basis on which the government works, delegate country’s matters and express their dissent. The democratic system is usually of two types, the presidential system, and the parliamentary system. There are the countries where certain people are deprived of their liberty and dignity and these countries are ruled by authoritarian and military dictator though in some countries these authoritarian are elected but still the basic principles of democracy still missing in them, in modern times India practices the ideology of democracy through constitutionally and principally. The notions and principles of democracy have evolved in modern times, and these principles which have evolved are political discussion, freedom of expression, the idea of equality, political representation to all, active public participation, the inclusion of dissent, incorporation of diversity, and most importantly the rule of law in the society. Across the globe, many countries are trying to rooting their constitution with the principles of democracy; however, the reality is totally different. Even though countries do conduct the elections but they lack the freedom of choices, and fairness. In current scarino world’s largest democratic countries faces the challenges in shape of political instability, corruption, suppression of expression, and power dynamics polluting the true sense of democracy. Despite the fact democracy is the best form of government but still to achieve the true democracy the stakeholders have to gone through painstaking and tiresome.
