Islamabad, (Parliament Times ) : Senior Kashmiri Leader and Chairman of Jammu & Kashmir Salvation Movement (JKSM) Altaf Ahmed Bhat has appealed to the people of Kashmir to observe 15 August as a black day to denounce Indian illegal occupation of Jammu & Kashmir, and send a clear message to the World that Kashmiris reject India and seek Right to Self Determination as agreed upon at United Nations.
According to a statement issued here in Islamabad today, Senior Kashmiri Leader Bhat said that India has no right to observe independence day as it illegally occupied Jammu & Kashmir, started reign of terror, abolished basic human rights, violated all international norms and laws and butchered hundreds of thousands of Kashmiris to punish them for raising voice and demanding freedom.
“India, so called biggest democracy of the world has no moral right to celebrate Independence Day, it occupied our land by landing hundreds of thousands of troopers in J&K , occupied our land against the wishes of our people”, Bhat said, adding that it’s high time India must be held accountable for its neo-settler colonialism, and war mongering in South Asia.
Chairman JKSM Altaf Ahmed Bhat added that, After the unilateral actions of India on 5th Aug 2019, India is now changing the demography of the disputed territory, issuing more than 4 million State Subject certificates to hard core Hindus is a pre-planned step to strip indigenous Kashmiris of their Lands, Jobs, Businesses, and identity.
“Modi led BJP govt of India when failed to break Kashmiris, their sentiments they planned a financial and economic breakdown and hence on 5th Aug 2019 Jammu & Kashmir was stripped of Article 370, which assured special status and identity to the erstwhile state. Since then Kashmiri Hurriyat Leaders: Yasin Malik, Massarat Alam Bhat, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Zaffar Akbar Bhat, Asiya Andrabi, Fehmida Sofi are behind bars, while Rights Activists and Journalists are being haunted by the occupation forces through lawless laws such as UAPA and PSA.” Bhat added.
Chairman Bhat further said that, despite 75 years of oppression, subjugation and torture Kashmiris never bowed before India, we sacrificed more than 100 thousand lives but our demand for freedom for our motherland still echoes throughout the world. Kashmiris stand firm & committed with the Freedom movement and pledge to take the ongoing struggle to its logical end.
