FAISALABAD,( Bureau Report):  In view of the increasing population of Faisalabad, the society has to play its positive role along with increasing the number of police individuals to control the crimes.
The Regional Police Officer Babar Sarfraz Alpa said this today while addressing the representatives of the business community at the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry( FCCI)
Informing further, he said that according to the 2017 census, the population of Faisalabad was 7.8 million while 10 to 12 lakh people come here every day for sake of bread and butter. Every department has to play its role to provide protection of life and property to such a large number of people. He elaborated that while Faisalabad is contributing 45% to the total exports of textiles, this city is also of special importance and status in providing employment. He termed about the rapidly growing population as the biggest problem of the country and said that political stability is also directly linked to our economy. He said adding that the business situation has not been very good during the last 2-3 years. But we should not despair, but we have to make efforts to revive the economy with full courage and determination.
Regarding the police force, he said that according to the police rules of 1934, there should be one policeman for a population of 450 and in this regard, Faisalabad urgently needs a force of 18 to 20 thousand and in this regard, the chamber and public Representatives have to play their role. Regarding Safe City, Babar Sarfraz said that the initial outline is ready but the government does not have the funds to implement it. However, he said that the Faisalabad Chamber helped him a lot in this regard and it is expected that when the Safe City project starts, it will start getting results immediately. He also assured to upgrade the police service center established in Faisalabad Chamber and said that driving permit system through E-licensing has been integrated at the provincial level and this facility will also be provided to the Chamber. He said that the issue of character certificate can also be done from here while more facilities can also be provided.
On the proposal of the Chamber to resolve the transaction issues under the conciliation procedure, he said that he is in favour of this proposal but the period of resolution of these disputes should be short. He also assured to increase police patrolling in certain roads and areas to prevent incidents and said that they are always available to address complaints and no one needs prior permission to meet them. He further said that there is a very strict system of punishments in the police. 90% of the appeals against these sentences are rejected, while at the IG level, 85% of the appeals are also rejected, but in the tribunal, this process is 100% reversed. He said that he has also introduced a new formula for reinstated employees according to the nature of their crimes under which they are not given field duty for 6 months to 3 years. He added that it has been 2 months since he came here and he has not heard a single appeal yet. However, he said that they must point out the flaws and shortcomings of the police, but must also encourage the youth for their good work. Earlier, Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Atif Munir Sheikh introduced Faisalabad and Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry and said that the city is contributing 45% to the country’s textile exports while its share in total exports is It is 22 percent. He said that this city is also the leader in providing employment while 80% of the country’s cloth is being produced in this city. He said that the best industrial estates have been established in Faisalabad, which also have the status of Free Economic Zone. He said that the chamber is the selected representative forum of the small units in addition to the big industrial enterprises of this city, while we are playing the role of strong communication between the government and the business community to solve the problems of 132 different sectors. He said that modern technology is needed to control crimes in the present era and in this regard, Faisalabad Chamber can design a portal for the district police on the pattern of the Prime Minister’s portal so that the legitimate complaints of the people can be redressed immediately. can go. He also stressed on increasing the number of police in proportion to the population and said that the Faisalabad Chamber is also playing its key role in improving the infrastructure of the city.
