    PCS Pakistan is constantly striving to improve the treatment facilities: Maj Gen prof. Dr Khaliq Ansari

    Rawalpindi (Parliament Times):The Governing Council of the Pakistan Chest Society (PCS) the official society of Chest Specialists (pulmonologists) in Pakistan, met in Rawalpindi to discuss future planning and implementation to be able to provide the best possible care to patients suffering from chest diseases throughout the country.
    The meeting was chaired by the President of the PCS Maj Gen Professor Dr Jawad Khaliq Ansari (R), and conducted by the General Secretary, Dr Naghman Bashir. The meeting was attended by leading chest specialists and representatives of all the provincial chapters of the Society. These included Brig Jamal Ahmed (R), Dr Kaleem Ullah Toori, Dr Osman Yusuf from the Central Cabinet, Maj Gen Syed Badshah Zaidi (R), Dr Wajid Ali, Brig Zille Humayun, and Dr Rizwan Athar from the Federal Chapter; Dr Maqbool Langove, Dr Shereen Khan and Dr Mehmood Shahwani, Dr Ali Ahmed Reki, and Dr Tahir Khan from Balochistan; Dr Zafar Iqbal, Dr Muhammad Yusuf Khan, Dr Anila Basit, Dr Nisar Khan , and Dr Sadia Ashraf from KP; Dr Ashraf Jamal, Dr. Zaheer Akhtar, Dr Hafeez ur Rehman from Punjab; and Dr Nausheen Ahmad and Dr Kamran Khan from Sindh.
    The Governing Council is the representative body of the different provinces, which decides on policy matters of the Pakistan Chest Society. Major decisions were taken on matters relating to latest updated guidelines on different chest diseases for all specialists and non-specialists; improvement of indigenous research; establishment of a central secretariat, and various other administrative matters.
    Dr Wajid Ali (Center), Dr Muhammad Irfan (Sind), and Dr Ashraf Jamal (Punjab) were nominated to head the Constitution Committee, Scientific Research Committee and the Guidelines Committee respectively. Prof Arshad Javaid (KP) was appreciated for his excellent services for the journal. He will continue to provide his services as the Editor in Chief of the scientific journal of the Pakistan Chest Society, with Dr Zafar Iqbal as the Managing Editor.
    The next meeting of the Governing Council will be held in December 2022.
