MIRPUR,(Parliament Times): Chief Justice Azad Jammu and Kashmir Mr. Justice Raja Saeed Akram reviewed Jhelum River and Mangla Dam banks in Mirpur district, eradication of illegal and close to population crash machine business, progress so far in Mirpur district regarding anti-encroachment on the instructions of the Supreme Court, action to be taken against adulterers of milk, curd and other food items and the progress made by the administration regarding the removal of illegal billboards installed across the city. Expressing satisfaction over the progress made so far regarding adulteration of milk and dairy products and elimination of encroachment, directed that the Milkmen mixing water in the milk are not entitled to any exemption. In this regard, the Food Authority should use its powers properly and the violators should be brought to justice. Cases should be registered against substandard sale of milk, curd, bakery items and other food items contrary to hygiene rules. So that no one can play with human lives. According to the directions of the Supreme Court, no one should be treated with any leniency and no laziness or negligence should be shown in the elimination of encroachments.
He expressed these views in Mirpur district regarding the elimination of encroachment, the elimination of illegal and crash machines near the population, the elimination of food adulterants and the illegal display of big billboards while giving instructions in the progress review meeting.
On the occasion of the progress meeting, Additional Registrar Supreme Court Iftikhar Shaukat, Commissioner Mirpur Division Chaudhary Shaukat Ali, Chief Engineer Electronics Saeed Gilani, Additional Advocate General Chaudhry Shakeel Zaman, Deputy Commissioner Chaudhry Amjad Iqbal, SSP Raja Irfan Saleem, SE Electronics Chaudhry Muhammad Ziyad, Deputy Director Food Mohammad Maruf, District Food Controller Zulfiqar Ali and Information Officer Mohammad Javed Malik were also present on the occasion.
The Chief Justice of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Mr. Justice Raja Saeed Akram Khan gave instructions to the officers of all the departments that it is the responsibility of the state institutions and officers to protect public interests and human lives. However, the officers of the institutions are not fulfilling their responsibilities, due to which some people in the cities are selling non-standard, adulterated and unsanitary food items. In this way, adulterated and chemicalized milk is also being sold which is extremely dangerous for human lives. In this regard, the Food Authority has done a good job in Mirpur, which is appreciated, but this work should continue on a daily basis.
There should be full registration of the milk traders and a cash security of Rs 5 lakh should be collected from them. There should be no compromise on hygiene principles including cleanliness. Items manufactured in large bakeries and food establishments should be prepared in accordance with the Food Authority Act and should be subject to unannounced inspections.
The Chief Justice of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Mr. Justice Raja Saeed Akram Khan directed the administration to speed up the removal of encroachments and the areas from which the encroachments have been removed should be protected. There should not be any kind of way to the areas vacated by illegal occupants, nor should the occupants be allowed to use that space temporarily.
Chief Justice of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Mr. Justice Raja Saeed Akram Khan further said that all state institutions are bound to implement the orders of the Supreme Court.
On this occasion, Deputy Commissioner Chaudhry Amjad Iqbal, Chief Engineer Electronics and officers of Food Authority said in the progress report of their respective departments that the eradication of encroachments from Mirpur city is going on gradually in the light of the orders of the Supreme Court. While the Food Authority is also checking on a daily basis and many shops have been sealed and violators fined.
The Chief Electronics Engineer said that wires etc. have been removed from the main line leading to the crash machine. The Deputy Commissioner said that all illegal crash machines have been sealed in Mirpur.
