No one can deny the importance of Journalism. it is called the fourth pillar of the state. It is the only way to keep democracy alive. It helps citizens communicate with their governments. It keeps people aware of their fundamental rights. Through Journalism, people can raise affective voices against violations of their rights.The first newspaper, Gazette de France, was published in France in 1632. Hungarian-born journalist, Joseph Pulitzer, is known as the father of journalism. Journalism is the activity of gathering, assessing, creating, and presenting news and information and disseminating them to the public, through print media, electronic media, and social media. Before the 20th century, the term “Journalism” was limited to print media, but now it has expanded to electronic media and social media.
The purpose of journalism is to provide citizens with information that will enable them to make better decisions about their lives, communities, and governments. Journalism is a form of writing that tells people about things that really happened, but that they might not have known about already.There are three main types of journalism. The first type of journalism is print media, which includes newspapers, magazines, and journals. It would not be wrong to say that journalism originated from print media. The second type of journalism is electronic media which includes TV and radio. The third type of journalism is social media.In a democratic society, the extraordinary importance of Journalism cannot be denied. It is called the fourth pillar of democracy. It plays an effective role in the formation and overthrowing of governments. It is an effective tool to hold governments accountable. The primary purpose of journalism is to entertain and educate the people. It is a major source to keep the people aware of the global Scenario. It is the reflection and identity of a society. The only way to know about a country’s internal situation, the performance of its government, the supremacy of democracy, the justice system, and its culture is through its newspapers. Journalism is an important source to keep people aware of the problems of society. It tells people the difference between good and bad.
It is an important source of self-knowledge and self-accountability. It makes people aware of their rights. Corruption is a major challenge in developing countries. The corrupt ruling elite loots the nation’s money and transfers it to developed countries. It causes the destruction of the nations. Journalism is a major source of exposing corrupt acts. It is the voice of the voiceless. Indeed, It is an effective tool to build a society in which the powerful are accountable to the public. Youth is the backbone of a nation. The future of nations depends on them. Journalism is a major source of attracting youth to education. It plays a key role in making youth aware of their rights and duties. It keeps the youth aware of the current affairs which creates a competitive spirit in them. Undoubtedly, It is a great source of inspiration for the younger generation.We are living in a competitive World. Nowadays, people want to be aware of the situation and events around them. This is because everyone is looking for something better. At the individual level, everyone wants their lifestyle to be better than others. The same is true of competition at the country level. Every country wants to be ahead of other countries in every field. Every country wants its defense, economy, and culture to be better than other countries. In short, as a nation or individual, everyone wants to be informed and the only way to do that is through journalism. On May 25, 2020, George Floyd, a black American, was brutally murdered in the United States. It was Journalism that enabled the whole world to raise an effective voice against this painful incident. Journalism is the only way to find out how the covid 19 wreaked havoc on the world, how it killed people, and how it destroyed large economies. It is the only journalism that keeps us informed about every moment of the Russian-Ukraine war. Undoubtedly, Without journalism, the world would be ignorant.
Undoubtedly, journalism is the only way to keep the people informed of the incidents that take place locally and globally.Impartial Journalism is a precious asset to nations. Impartiality is defined as “not taking sides.” Media impartiality means that coverage should be unbiased. Bias in Journalism is the biggest obstacle to the development of nations. Pakistan is a country surrounded by problems. Solution-oriented journalism is needed to get out of the problems. The media is a major source to highlight social and economic issues. It helps the people to hold governments accountable. Journalism should be based on ethical principles which are truth, accuracy, and objectivity. Unfortunately, Pakistani Media Is Suffering From ‘truth decay’.
