Lahore: A delegation led by Founder President Chiniot Chamber of Commerce and Industry Danish Fakhri called on Governor Punjab Muhammad Baligh-ur-Rehman at Governor House Lahore today. During the meeting, the delegation apprised the Governor of Punjab of the problems faced by the Chiniot Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The delegation also demanded that Chiniot be given the status of Furniture City. The delegation included executive members Sheikh Abid Omer, Sheikh Bilal Ahmed, Hafiz Habib-ur-Rehman, Mehr Muhammad Abu Bakar, Mohsin Dildar, Mehr Nadeem, Chaudhry Hameed Tabassum, Muawiyah Chaman, Malik Rashid, Azeem Fakhri, Saad Naeem Fakhri and Tahir Ayub.
Speaking on the occasion, Punjab Governor Muhammad Baligh-ur-Rehman said that no country can achieve real prosperity without boosting the economy, which is why the present government is taking all possible steps to bolster the economy in the country. He said that the government is facing many challenges, adding that in the last three and a half years due to bad governance there has been a decline in every sector due to which the government has to take tough decision. Governor Punjab said that when PML-N came to power in 2013, the power shortfall was very high, and at that time PML-N installed new power plants. He said that the PML-N had laid a network of roads, motorways and highways across the country during its previous tenure.
Governor Punjab Muhammad Baligh-ur-Rehman said that industrialists and business community play a key role in the development of the country’s economy. He said that Chiniot furniture has a unique identity all over the world due to its beauty and quality. He said there is a need to increase exports in the furniture industry. He said that whenever the PML-N leadership came to power, it took exemplary steps for the welfare of the people.
Governor Punjab Muhammad Baligh-ur-Rehman appreciated the efforts of the delegation President Danish Naeem Fakhri and his team for setting up of Chiniot Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He said that he would play his role to solve the problems of the business community. On the occasion, the delegation told the Governor Punjab that apart from furniture, there is also handmade crafts and rice industry in Chiniot, adding that exports could be increased with the patronage of the government. The delegation also invited the Governor of Punjab to visit the Chiniot Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
