Lahore,(Parliament Times):A delegation of businessmen from various industries led by Mehr Kashif Younis called on Governor Punjab Muhammad Baligh-ur-Rehman at Governor House Lahore today. The delegation included Dr. Waqar Chaudhry, Advisor, SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Kamal Mian, Muhammad Faisal Afzal, Asad Ata, Khurram Gulzar and others. The delegation apprised the Governor of Punjab of the problems faced by the industry.
Talking on the occasion, Governor Punjab Muhammad Baligh-ur-Rehman said that despite the difficult conditions and problems, the business community was playing an active role in the economic development of the country. He added that it is imperative that all institutions work for the development and stability of the country with the national spirit . The Governor Punjab said that the PML-N government has always taken steps for the welfare of the business community. He said that the role of business community not only in the economic development of the country but also in the welfare work is commendable. He said that whether it is an earthquake or Covid 19 pandemic, the business community has always played an active role in serving the people.
Punjab Governor Muhammad Baligh-ur-Rehman said that continuity in government policies is very important for the economic development of the country without which industries in the country cannot develop. He stressed that all the political parties of the country need to sign the Charter of Economy. He said that the good policies of the previous government should be carried forward in the interest of the country and the nation. He said that the Textile sector is one of the most important industries in the country in terms of exports which earns the country a lot of foreign exchange. He said that exports of Pakistani products need to be increased as much as possible to generate revenue as well as business and employment opportunities in the country. The Governor Punjab said that PML-N had set up professional vocational training institutes in the previous government and also worked on public-private partnership to bring development and prosperity in the country.
Mehr Kashif while talking on the occasion said that the government should take steps to encourage women involved in businesses. Dr. Waqar Chaudhry said that vocational training institutes should be promoted to strengthen the industry. The delegation apprised the Governor of Punjab of other issues including tax on construction industry and electricity billing. He assured that the recommendations for the solution of their problems would be conveyed to the concerned quarters. He said that he had earlier met various delegations from the industry and also conveyed recommendations to the concerned circles for the solution of their problems.
