Since 1947 while subcontinent was divided into Pakistan and India , Kashmir was part of subcontinent which later become disputed territory. According to the article “Press in Kashmir” by “A.G.Noorani” the press in Kashmir suffered since 1947 to 1953 when Shaikh Muhammad Abdullah was the PM of Kashmir there were no improvement in the situation of press.After his death the journalist form Kashmir press club.But unfortunately most of journalist were killed or arrested.Shujaat Bukhari (a well-known journalist) was shot dead in Srinagar .Not only this but from 2006 at least 99 journalist were arrested in Jammu and Kashmir .And this report has been highlighted by a fact-finding committee which shows the intimidation faced by Kashmir’s media. In addition to , journalist are a strength ,potential and power of Nation along with it they are the real heros but still their lives are in danger and they live each second of their life with a fear of being killed or arrested.It is to government to defend them because they deserve it.
