Lahore,(Parliament Times): Punjab Information and Culture Secretary Raja Jahangir Anwar have said that the importance of the Right to Information in democratic societies cannot be denied and the Punjab Information Commission has rendered excellent services in this regard. He said this while addressing an awareness seminar on Right to Information organized by Punjab Information Commission in collaboration with German Cooperation GIZ in which Punjab Information Commissioner Dr Arif Mushtaq Chaudhry Shaukat Ali DGPR Saman Rai Additional DGPR Rubina Afzal Khan Lawyers, civil society representatives, analysts and citizens from various walks of life attended the event.
Raja Jhangir Anwar said that cooperation should be extended by the citizens and concerned institutions so that there would be no hindrance in the process of transparency. He said that Punjab Information Commission was successfully discharging its duties. Addressing the participants, Mehboob Qadir Shah said that the commission established in 2013 has performed its duty of providing information to thousands of people. Similarly, Awareness Seminars were organized across Punjab. He said that the right to information is a fundamental right of every citizen and government agencies should not hesitate to provide the required information to the citizens without any delay.
