Sahiwal, (Bureau Report) : Like all over Punjab, wheat procurement drive has started in Sahiwal division and the food department is continuing to distribute bardana to the farmers. So far more than 61,600 metric tons of wheat has been distributed in the division while 11,900 metric tons of wheat has also been procured. This was stated by Deputy Director Food Amir Muhammad Burmani in a meeting held at the Commissioner’s Office which was chaired by Commissioner Sahiwal Division Ali Bahadur Qazi. The meeting reviewed in detail the ongoing wheat procurement drive in the division. It was informed in the meeting that the target for procurement of wheat in Sahiwal division is more than 47,200 metric tons in which the target is 150,000 metric tons in Sahiwal district, 180,000 metric tons in Okara district and 77,200 metric tons in Pakpattan district. Commissioner Ali Bahadur Qazi directed the administration of the three districts and the officers of the food department to provide all facilities to the people at all the shopping centers and to keep the process of distribution of bardana to the farmers completely transparent.
