Punjab Food Authority has intensified operation against mafia during the holy month of Ramadan.
The Carbonated Drinks Unit was shut down for counterfeiting well-known brands of counterfeit prepared drinks. Counterfeit drinks were being made by adding artificial flavors and chemicals to unfiltered tap water. Similarly, expired pulp in ketchup Action was taken on the use of. Harmful health dyes and chemicals were being used against the law. During the operation, 4 liters of juice, 5 kg of ketchup and 5 liters of sugar syrup and other items were destroyed.
The DG Food Authority said that, counterfeit drinks made from chemicals without an approved formula were a major cause of gastric ulcer and cancer.
Shoaib Khan Jadoon clarified that full-scale action against anti-health elements will remain continued.
