Jeddah/ MIRPUR (AJK), (Parliament Times): President Azad Jammu and Kashmir Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry has said that Kashmiris settled in the Middle East countries should rise above their party politics and work together to highlight Kashmir cause effectively.
Addressing an Iftar dinner hosted in his honour by Kashmiri overseas community in Jeddah today, the AJK president lauded the overseas Kashmiris for their role in keeping the Kashmir issue alive at international level.Stressing the need for unanimity at all levels, he said, “Since all political parties and leaders are united on a single point on Kashmir, it is imperative that Kashmiris living abroad should forge unity and devote all their energies to promote Kashmir cause globally”. He said Kashmiris living in the Middle East should take advantage of social media and use it as an effective tool to convey the voice of the people of occupied Kashmir to the world through it.Referring to his appointments with OIC Secretary General, IDB president and other officials, the president said that during his visit he had several important meetings during which a threadbare discussion was held on the situation in the Indian occupied Kashmir was held issue and the situation in Occupied Kashmir. “I also discussed with the President of the Islamic Development Bank the ongoing and newly launched development projects in Azad Kashmir”, he said.Earlier, Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry addressed a crowded press conference at the Pakistan Consulate. Speaking on the occasion, he emphasized on an aggressive diplomatic campaign to expose Indian government’s belligerence and its hegemonic designs in the region. He said that India had issued fake domiciles to 4.2 million non-state Hindus in Occupied Kashmir. “Similarly, 4,000 Indian investors are being settled in the valley under the guise of investment”, he said adding that all these actions were meant to change the region’s demographics.The Permanent Representative of Pakistan to OIC Rizwan Syed Sheikh, Consul General Adnan Javed, Chaudhry Khurshid Chairman Overseas Community, Masood Puri Chairman Kashmir Committee, Sardar Abid and others also addressed the Iftar Dinner.
