Balochistan is the largest province of Pakistan in term of territory. Owing to high illiteracy rate students of this province have no access to career counseling. Majority of them are first ones in their family to get education. As a result they cannot seek any guidelines from their elder family members. There is also a dire dearth of intellectuals to help them in this regard. Many students even do not know that what to do after they finish their intermediate level. Therefore, they don’t understand the importance of higher education and a lot of them adopt other ways in life. It is really concerning because in other countries, if one asks to a child he knows what he has to do in future. But in Balochistan a college student does not know anything. Hardly, when rest who want to learn more but they don’t have idea about any department in universities. And they just listen the names of departments and ask to a senior about it. The senior just says it is a good one you should go for it. Poor students having no idea themselves join the proclaimed fields. After spending a year and more they realize that it is not a field of their interests. Later it will be too late and they will already get trapped, thousands are facing this same issue. Most of them quit while graduating. Many of them complete their graduation without focusing on their studies because of paucity of interest in their fields. Due to lack of career counseling the future of these poor students are being spoiled. It might be a great loss to their lives but it is also an alarming loss for country because these youngsters won’t be able to contribute their abilities to country due to lack of higher education. It is 21st century other nations have access to other planets. But We still do not have access to something like career councseling. Solutions to this; first of all, it is the duty of educated youth of said province to provide proper guidance to the students. And government should also establish such institutions where specially career counseling should be given to students. In this way, students can be saved in their lives.
