Lahore: The Alhamra’s Academy of Performing Arts re-opened for those who love the arts after renovations. The academy has been closed for some time now for updating as per the modern requirements.
Secretary Information and Culture Raja Jahangir Anwar inaugurated the academy along with Executive Director Alhamra Zulfiqar Ali Zulfi. During the visit of Alhamra Academy Secretary Information and Culture, Raja Jahangir Anwar reviewed Sitar, Guitar, Harmonium, Tabla, Flute, Fiddle and other classes.
On this occasion, Raja Jahangir Anwar said that Pakistan is rendering excellent services worldwide. In the same way, I see that our young people today are very much in love with the fine arts, which is a very positive sign. He further said that the Department of Information and Culture provided opportunities for art lovers in every possible way. The re-opening of Alhamra Academy of Performing Arts was a link in the same chain. Dept. of Information and Culture wants to prepare our youth to step into with complete confidence into practical life so that our young generation is no less than anyone in any field.
The inauguration ceremony was also attended by DGPR Saman Rai, Director Majlis Tarqi Adab Mansoor Afaq, and other officers congratulated Zulfiqar Ali Zulfi on starting the academy with renewed vigour.
Executive Director Alhamra Zulfiqar Ali Zulfi said that he was grateful for the cooperation of the Department of Information and Culture in establishing Alhamra Academy on modern lines. He noted that Alhamra is conveying training in 12 different fields of fine arts, and the teachers who are preparing our students are renowned in their respective fields, he added. LAC also hired the famous artists Ustad Hamid Ali Khan, Taranum Naz and Sara Raza Khan as visiting lecturers on singing and music.
Director P&DP Sohail Iftikhar Shami said that the academy is embarking on a journey of success with renewed vigour. “Right now, Alhamra have diploma level, but we want to take this academy to university level,” he said.
Academy Supervisor Naveen Roma performed the duty of the host at the event. Charge of the academy, Mohammad Arif, said that new instruments of the academy were acquired, and the musical instrument Ruabab were added to the chain.
Alhamra Academy of Performing Arts students won the audience’s hearts by giving various performances with excellent skills at the ceremony.
Executive Director Zulfiqar Ali Zulfi presented a souvenir to Provincial Secretary Raja Jahangir Anwar. On which the provincial secretary termed this initiative of Alhamra as a harbinger of a bright future for the youth. On the event’s success, Zulfiqar Ali Zulfi said that my team deserves special congratulations on this outstanding achievement of Alhamra Academy.
