ISLAMABAD: National Assembly (NA) legislation department has informed NA speaker Asad Qaisar no member of assembly can be prevented from casting vote on the matter of no confidence motion.
NA speaker had raised question with NA legislation department “ is he empowered to prevent the dissenting members from casting vote in not trust motion. The legislation section replied no member can be prevented from casting vote. If any member goes against the party policy then the action will be taken after the NA member commits this act. The article 63-1 of the constitution is very clear in this regard.
The NA speaker asked from NA secretariat if PM or party chief whip sends him name of suspicious members then what action can be taken.
Secretariat replied “your role will start after the formal declaration is received from party chairman.
NA speaker further asked can ruling be given in the house against the dissenting members before voting.
The legislation section replied giving ruling are the powers of the speaker however the law and constitution is very clear in this matter.
