Rawalpindi, (Parliament Times) : After a long and patient process, practical steps were taken on the construction of Rawalpindi Ring Road. The RDA wrote to the FWO and the NLC to submit their proposals for the construction of the Ring Road. Tender opening date is set for March 14. Due to sensitive locations in the Ring Road route, the provincial government has decided to award the contract to FWO or NLC instead of the private sector. Not only do these companies have extensive construction experience but they also have advanced machinery, trained specialists and the ability to complete projects on time compared to the private sector. Meanwhile, the High Court has directed the concerned agencies to remove the reservations of the victims at the Ring Road Khasala Interchange. The cemetery and funeral home at the site of the proposed Khasala Interchange were being affected. Javed Sarwar, Land Acquisition Collector in RDA office assured to solve the problems of the victims. While instructions have also been issued to the consultancy firm NESPAK of Ring Road Rawalpindi. RDA Chief Engineer Dr. Habib Randhawa wrote to FWO and NLC for participation in direct contract for construction of 24 km ring road of Rs. 24 billion as per PPRA Rules 59 (e). It is learned that the Chief Engineer’s Office has decided to strictly enforce the rules to maintain high standards of construction. According to which the company should have experience in transport system testing, commissioning and operations worth at least 800 million rupees. In addition, there must be the ability to implement Building Information Modeling (BIM) to build interchanges. Meanwhile, government and department officials are reluctant to give a final date for the laying of the foundation stone of Ring Road Rawalpindi. It may be recalled that the dates of March 23 to 27 were announced after the event was postponed in December last year.
