Islamabad, (Parliament Times) : Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Azad Kashmir president and most senior minister Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan said that PTI believed in good governance, development, merit and transparency, making Azad Kashmir a model state. He expressed these views while talking to public delegations.
Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan said that local body elections had been part of the election manifesto of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and any concerns raised by party workers related to it would be addressed as much as possible. “PTI does not want to make the local body elections controversial but wants transparent and free elections. 25% representation in the election will be given to youth and women,” he said.
He further stated government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, in line with the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan, was committed to holding local body elections for devolution of power. He said that due to non-holding of local body elections, disengagement and apathy of common people especially young men and women towards political parties increased. “Without the local government system, the problems of the people cannot be solved and no new political leadership can be emerged,” he said, adding that “Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is leading the way in restoring the local government system so that thousands of new faces could become part of the political system and show the essence of service and leadership in their respective areas.”
