Naseebullah Khan
He lived 76 years for the protection of human rights, as a defender of democracy, as a true son of Balochistan, and as an icon of resistance politics who proved to be the consistent middle class leader with its commitments. Dr. Abdul Hai born in Feburary 1946 in Kachi, was undoubtedly an epitome of layman politics. Being a professional docter in Dow medical college during 1960s, he entered in politics at a time when the country was in the hands of undemocratic forces. He was the firts Chairman of the BSO which is said to be the nursary of Baloch Politicians and one of the pioneer of the Baloch students politics. In the 1970s he became the member of national assembly by defeating prince Yahya the son of Khan Kalat. Dr. Abdul Hai also served as a member of Pakistan,s upper house Senate too from the platform of BNM. Despite NAP and BNM he also struggled through different political forms such as National Party and in 2018 established his own party by the name of National democratic Party. Dr. Abdul Hai was sentenced 6 months during the era of general Ayub while 20 months during the time of Zulfaqar Ali Bhuto. He was a renowned democrat who was famous for his defiance politicas against general Ayub, Zia ul Haq, and Pervaiz Musharraf. In 1973, along with Nawab Khair Buksh Marri and Junaifer Musa, Dr. Abdul Hai denied to sign the constitution of 1973 due to exclusion of his demands from the final constitutional draft. Dr. Abdul Hai was a veteran representative of Pashtun__Baloch garmony and a huge supporter of peace. In late 1990s, when the allaince of oppressed nations PONUM was formed, Dr. Abdul Hai was a prominent figure of that. It will be no exaggeration to say that he was equally famous and respected in Pashtun, Saraki, and Sindi nations as he was in Baloch nation. His role in the national assembly and Senate both left unereasable imprints owing to his stance for human rights and for the protection of the rights of the smaller nations. He was undoubtedly, their true voice in parliament.Dr. Abdul Hai has departed but his legacy will continue. He was one of the politicians who wrestled political battles with the might of credible ideas, persuasion, and conviction, not with the vigour of money. His commitment with democracy, human rights, his struggle for the safeguard of the intrests of the smaller nations, his uprightness, his, integtity, and moral courage will alive him in history.
