Rawalpindi,   (Parliament Times) : The Chief Traffic Officer Rawalpindi Naveed Irshad said that the purpose of the traffic police is to enforce traffic rules, ensure safety measures while driving and to create awareness among the people about the rule of law. Challans are issued only to correct citizens for violating traffic rules. On the direction of CTO, the traffic police in Murree Road, Glass Factory and other densely populated areas of Rawalpindi along with lifters took strict and indiscriminate action against vehicles obstructing no parking, improper parking, double parking and traffic flow. Issued challan tickets to 30 vehicles in operation. While 8 were detained in the police station, several were warned. Traders lauded the performance of traffic police in restoring traffic flow.
