ISLAMABAD , (Parliament Times) : Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement (J&KSM) Altaf Ahmed Bhat has paid glowing tributes to two Kashmiri liberation leaders Muhammad Maqbool Bhat and Afzal Guru on their martyrdom anniversaries.
Maqbool Bhat was hanged to death on February 11, 1984 while Guru was sent to gallows to satisfy the collective consscience of India on circumstantial evidence in Tihar Jail New Delhi.

Chairman J&KSM Altaf Bhat while talking to media here said that Maqbool Bhat was an institution in himself, his struggle for Kashmiri’s right to self-determination is still vibrant and millions of Kashmiri youth follow his spirit of sacrfice to break the Indian shackles of slavery.

India the so called biggest democracy in the world, on 11th February 1984 by denying all the fundamentals of justice system denied right to fair trial to Bhat and hanged him in Tihar Jail to death. Chairman J&KSM added.

Chariman J&KSM Altaf Bhat added that Maqbool Bhat was hanged by India’s authorities for protecting their illegal and iron-fisted occupation of Jammu and Kashmir since 1947. He had previously been tortured and inhumanely imprisoned in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJ&K). His courage, however, demonstrated such savagery would backfire, and intensify the Kashmiri resistance.

Maqbool Bhat’s and Guru’s struggle for their motherland inspired countless Kashmiris to persist in the struggle for right of self?determination. The vision of both the leaders for IIOJK did not die with their martyrdom . They gave a lesson to the generations to come that it is very hard but only choice to accept martyrdom instead of Indian slavery.

He lamented that Indian government did not hand over the bodies of the two prominent martyrs to their families but buried them secretly in Tihar Jail to violate the basic burial rights.

“Kashmiri youth idealise their heroes and are still fighting the toughest war in the history of the world against the Indian occupation and thousands of Kashmiri people are being imprisoned”, he added.

Chairman J&KSM Altaf Bhat said that Kashmiris will observe martyrs days of Guru and Mabqool Bhat with the determination and commitment to carry forward the mission of their martyrs till independence from illegal Indian occupation that consumed more than one lakh innocent people of IIOJK so far.
