ISLAMABAD:   PML-N senior leader Ishaq Dar has written a letter to Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani saying he is now ready to take oath as senator because legal hindrances now stand removed.

He has taken the plea in his letter addressed to Senate Chairman the legal dispute arose out of the act of challenging his election to Senate seat on March 03, 208 stands resolved now. The Supreme Court (SC) rejected civil appeal on December 21, 2021. This way the SC May 08, 2018 order on suspension of his membership stands abolished.

He held that Election Commission (EC) has withdrawn its January 10, 2022 notification of suspending his success on Senate seat in the light of SC decision.
“ I am now ready to take oath as elected Senator following removal of legal hiccups. However I am unable to come to Pakistan in person being under treatment in UK at present. Therefore, oath should be administered to me as Senator through virtual video link. This method is already in place at SC”, he underlined.

He has requested chairman Senate if it is not possible to adopt virtual method then chairman Senate should arrange administration of oath to him through Pakistan high commissioner in UK or some authorized person under article 255 of the constitution.

Citing to sub section 2 of article 255 of the constitution Ishaq Dar said chairman Senate can appoint any person to administer oath to elected legislator who is authorized to administer oath under article 255 of the constitution.

Former fiancé minister has made it clear in his letter the legal amendment introduced recently in 2020 is not applicable to March 03, 2018 election.

Ishaq Dar has sent his latest medical report from his physician along with his letter from London. He has sent his letter and medical report to chairman Senate and election commission through e-mail.
