ABBOTTABAD,(Parliament Times): Important meeting on traffic issues chaired by Deputy Inspector General of Police Hazara Region Mirwais Niaz? Legal action should be taken against illegal vehicles which are a major cause of chaotic traffic: Mirwais Niaz Transporters should be made aware to register their vehicles for transport and commercial use, DIG Hazara said. A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Inspector General of Police Hazara Region Mirwais Niaz to resolve traffic issues in Hazara Region in which SSP Traffic Warden Qamar Hayat Khan, PSO to RPO Hazara Khabir Muhammad were present. And Secretary Regional Transport Authority Syed Abbas Bukhari. Secretary Regional Transport Syed Abbas Bukhari gave a detailed briefing to DIG Hazara Region regarding legal and illegal transport in Hazara region and joint operations and problems of Department of Transport and Police. DIG Hazara Mirwais Niaz said He directed that legal action be taken against the vehicles causing major traffic congestion. He directed that a special awareness campaign be launched for two weeks and meetings be held with the drivers and members of the transport union and they were apprised of this. They should boycott the illegally operated transport and get their vehicles which are being used for commercial purposes registered with the concerned department. Banners should also be put up at various places to spread awareness among transporters and drivers about the route on which they are driving their vehicles and get route permits from the concerned department for those vehicles which are not fit and fit. They should repair their vehicles and get a certificate of fitness from the Department of Transport to reduce the number of traffic accidents. Chaotic transport is a major problem in Abbottabad and more worrying is the large number of Suzuki narrators and Suzuki speakers which are not registered in most of them which is causing traffic problems in the city.DIG Hazara said that in the first phase transporters should be informed and in the second phase fines should be levied for violating the law as above the law every transporter has to get his route permits from the concerned department as per law so that they do not face any legal complication. Should not be encountered and a regular record of all this activity should be compiled. He further said that if any police officer recommends vehicles for legal action during the campaign, his complaint should be forwarded to the regional office so that departmental action may be taken against him.
