Lahore : A two-day inter-university theater competition was held at Lahore College for Women University. It was attended by a large number of students from various universities, representatives of the human rights department, Sirajuddin Drama Society, civil society and students. Provincial Minister for Environmental Protection Muhammad Rizwan attended the closing session. Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Bushra Mirza while highlighting the importance of the event said that extra-curricular activities along with education are very important for the students while the students had highlighted important social issues through their performances.
Addressing the ceremony, Provincial Minister Muhammad Rizwan said the government was taking all necessary steps to monitor the environmental pollution while promotion of electric vehicle much needed to tackle pollution issues. He said the EPD conducted a study in collaboration with SPARCO to find out the real causes of environmental pollution, working with the World Bank on the Punjab Green Development Project to enhance the capacity building of the department. He further said that results are being sent to the media on a daily basis from the monitoring station for air quality index in different districts of Punjab. He stressed that it is the common responsibility of all of us because the government cannot do anything alone without the cooperation of the people. Regional Director Human Rights Lubna Mansoor, Dr. Rashid, Gul Hassan Abbas from Women Protection Authority and others also addressed the function.
Various acts were also presented by the Eunuchs Society while participants were awarded honorary shields.
