    Highways should be kept open for traffic in winter due to power outages: Sardar Tanveer Ilyas

    Muzaffarabad,(Parliament Times): Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Azad Kashmir President and Most Senior Minister Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan issued instructions to Commissioner Poonch Division to deal with any emergency situation due to snowfall and rains during winter. According to the latest status of Kashmir Highway Division Bagh, Kohala Dhirkot, Arjah Bagh, Sudhan Gali Bagh, Hari Gahl Shujaabad highways have been restored for traffic. Meanwhile, machinery is working to rehabilitate Bagh Las Danah, Bhunt Chowk, Chitra Topi, Bagh Sadhan Gali via Dhondar Highways for traffic which will soon be restored for full traffic.

    Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan said that highways should be kept open for traffic in winter due to power outages, rains and snowfall. “Most of the effects of climate change are in upper parts of Azad Kashmir while in case of any sudden calamity, people turn to institutions. In such a situation the performance of the institutions can be improved under the best planning. Any highway on which there is a landslide should be restored for immediate transportation through excavator machine,” he said.

    He also stated that PTI Azad Kashmir government was pursuing policies to provide relief to the people. He further that the people had the right to basic amenities like clean drinking water, drainage system, roads, electricity and other things to which the PTI government was committed to solving the problems of the people. “We will not spare a single minute in improving and strengthening the socio-economic development of Azad Kashmir,” he added.
